Dusseldorf Hotels
The capital of Nordrhein-Westfalen and situated in the smoke-stack heart of Germany's industrial Ruhrgebiet, Dusseldorf has become a center for international trade shows. It is the home of about 90 trade fairs, 58 of which deserve the term "international," and 40 of which are, in their specific sectors, the largest trade events worldwide
None of Germany's 16 states is more densely populated than the heavily industrialized state of Northrhine Westphalia, whose capital is Dusseldorf and in which 17 million of Germany's total population of 80 million live. These 17 million have a purchasing power of $239 billion (DM 383 billion).
All trade shows are held in Northrhine Westphalia's largest four neighboring cities: Cologne, Dusseldorf, Essen, and Dortmund. Dortmund's fairgrounds are considered to be too small to house large international trade shows; therefore, Dortmund specializes in regional trade events. Essen, too, with its exhibit hall space of only 90,000 square meters, is limited to medium-sized trade shows of about 500 to 700 exhibitors, depending upon the size of the exhibited goods.
