Paris Air Show
The World’s Largest Air Show
JUNE 20 - 26, 2011
Success in spite of a difficult economic climate
The 48th International Paris Air Show - Le Bourget, which took place 15-21 June 2009, was a resounding success in spite of a gloomy economy.
The Show once again boasted a full complement of exhibitors, visitors and partners.
This session was also a chance to celebrate 100 years of the Paris Air Show, which was first held at the Grand Palais in Paris in 1909.
2009 key figures
• 132,464 sqm of exhibition space (halls, village, chalets, outside buildings).
• 192,000 sqm of aircraft display area.
• 360 chalet units.
• 142 aircrafts present including 42 in flying displays.
• 1,982 exhibitors from 46 countries.
• 380,000 admissions (trade visitors, general public, official delegations, journalists and exhibitors).
• 205 official delegations from 88 countries.
• More than 3,000 accredited journalists.
More than 193,000 (+ 20% compared with 2007) members of the general public flocked to see the aircrafts and find out about the manufacturers' latest technological advances during the 3 days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) devoted to them.
More over, no fewer than 205 official delegations from 88 countries visited the Show, including 40 foreign ministers, 6 deputy ministers, 18 secretaries of state, 7 chiefs of staff, 42 air force chiefs of staff and 14 delegates from defence procurement agencies.
For the second time, a business and technology forum known as the B2B Meetings was organised at the Show, with the aim of bringing together manufacturers to explore a range of trade, industrial and technological opportunities.
This year, the event brought together:
• 533 participants from 24 countries including 147 prime contractors,
• 4,800 meetings planned,
• 8 presentations to buyers.
In addition to the business aspect, this session also coincided with the 100th anniversary of the Show.
A number of events were organized to mark the centenary, in particular a display of almost 30 historic aircrafts, many of which were presented in flight. Also at this session, the Patrouille de France made a special appearance at the Show for the first time in many years. We would like to thank all exhibitors, visitors and partners who helped make this Paris Air Show one of the most outstanding in its history.
We look forward to seeing you from 20 to 26 June 2011 for the 49th International
